ETEC-652D Problems Creating a SL Media HUD

Heads Up Displays (HUD) in Second Life are cool! I am having a difficult time creating an interactive media HUD if there is such a thing. What I want to do is merge the shared media and the HUD functions.  This is proving to be quite a challenge! I can create a HUD and link to other landmarks, but what I want is to be able to link to media files that the wearer can play without leaving my site. Any suggestions?
